Having a Home Theater can be the perfect way to have the entire family spend some fun time together, without having to shell out the significant amount of money which weekly a trip to the show with popcorn and drinks thrown in can cost. Soundproofing a home theater is snot difficult, as long as one uses the “room within a room” construction which is used in creating a home recording studio.

Soundproofing Your Wall In A New Or Existing Home

The method you choose for soundproofing your wall will depend on whether you are working on a partially constructed wall still in the framing stages, or wanting to soundproof an existing wall without removing its drywall. This article provided information on two different methods of soundproofing your wall, one for each situation.

The materials you use in soundproofing your wall in new construction will include a soundproofing batt insulation, MLV sheeting, acoustical caulk, PVC seam sealing tape, and drywall. For soundproofing an existing wall, you’ll need Green Glue, Large caulking gun, and new drywall. (more…)
