if you dont care about what the wall will look like behind it… go to any carpet factory and ask for there scrap carpet peices it will be colorful for sure… but my husband and i did this in his music room… didnt cost a dime for all the carpet… and his friends love the look… not to mention i cant hear a thing when they are recording or playing. you can also call most home depots or places of that nature and they’d be delighted to get rid of there old samples of carpet.

You need a product called Homosote, available at most home improvement stores. Usually sold in 4×8 foot sheets, the store should have information about installing it.

Anybody that says “egg cartons” or “mcdonalds drink holders” has watched the movie Hustle n Flow too many times because that is fiction and it doesn’t work but I’m sure someone will suggest it.

What you want is sound blankets, auralex foam, and I know it may sound crazy, but on a budget; bookcases, paintings, and furniture work extremely well to absorb and diffuse sound.
